THAT'S HOW YOU LOSE HER I don't know what it is you're smokin' Better listen what I say Your little games and all your jokin' Are gonna drive that girl away Maybe you're too far gone for savin' But she's the one who's gonna go And when you're cryin' like a baby I'm gonna say I told you so That's how you lose her That's how you lose her Lose her That's how you lose her Treat her with some dignity Find out how good love can be Stay out with your no-good friends See how fast your romance ends Was it for real or were you fakin' The night you told her you'd be true? 'Cause if she thinks that she's mistaken She's gonna pull the plug on you You think that you're God's gift to women And that her patience has no end Don't come to me when your head's spinnin' 'Cause I ain't got an ear to lend That's how you lose her That's how you lose her Lose her That's how you lose her Treat her with some dignity Find out how good love can be You ain't seventeen no more Change your act or find the door That's how you lose her (that's how you drive that girl away) Loser (that's how you're gonna get shown the door) Loser, that's how you lose her (you better change your ways) Loser, that's how you lose her Lose her Lose her Lose her

A Man for All Seasons It's leaking from my ceiling and I'm feeling kinda cold Reaching for a blanket 'cause there's no one here to hold Knowing that the clouds will part and the sun will shine through I curl up and watch the shadows I see seven shades of blue I'm waiting, waiting, waiting Biding my time Where's a partner who can stick around past the wine and dine When life looks up, the players walk in They don't need too many reasons But I look past fair-weather guys I want a man for all seasons ... for all seasons Got an album with old photographs of Cupids that have flown Valentines gone forever Fleeting like cologne Some guys don't want to work too hard They just want to mess around Once you're sick on your couch with fever They're nowhere to be found I'm waiting, waiting, waiting Biding my time Where's a partner I can lean on Who will be there, rain or shine When life looks up, the players walk in They don't need too many reasons But I look past fair-weather guys I want a man for all seasons With me, in sickness and in health, for better or for worse To me, that's the finest kind of wealth in this vast universe When life looks up, the players walk in They don't need too many reasons But I look past fair-weather guys I want a man, I want a man When life looks up, the players walk in They don't need too many reasons But I look past fair-weather guys I want a man for all seasons ... for all seasons ... for all seasons

A Place at the Table Lord, your word created the Earth and everything in it In your eyes, a million years is less than a minute Yet your love is so wide That you are here on this road Walking with me, Right by my side Now, some friends might think I’m wrong to need you so But it’s you leading me on, and yes, Lord, I'll follow When I'm lost, you are there When I stumble and fall You pick me back up (pick me back up) So I won’t despair (no, I won't, 'cause) A place at the table is waiting for me My mother and father I will once again see A place at the table A place that is mine I will dwell in the House of the Lord And forever shine When my race is run and I’m finished with my tomorrows I’ll go home to a city where there are no sorrows ‘til that day comes along I will be singing Your praise Here in this world (here in this world) One with Your song (‘cause I know that there’s) A place at the table, and it's waiting for me My mother and father I will once again see A place at the table A place that is mine I will dwell in the House of the Lord (Lord) And forever shine

World is Waiting The woods are deep and dark tonight With trees as thick as bayonets My boots are heavy on this road Of ancient hurts and old regrets But in the dust there is a song That walkers sang to face their fears I feel its rhythm in my breath It’s like I’ve heard it years and years The ghosts that walk this road with me They keep cryin': “how long? Will justice be denied the poor And all the people who suffer wrong? When will a generation rise To break the chain and make us whole?" Their voices can not be denied They call to me down in my soul A world is waiting Where love counts for more than power A world is waiting In every moment, every hour Where no one speaks in words of hate And no one has to live in fear That world is waiting for us here Break the chain Break the chain A world is waiting Where love counts for more than power A world is waiting In every moment, every hour Break the chain and make us whole They call me down to my soul Break the chain and make us whole They call me down to my soul Where no one... Where no one... Where no one speaks in words of hate And no one has to live in fear That world is waiting for us here Break the chain Break the chain

All I Wanna Be Is Yours I wanna be the sun upon your skin Wanna be the breeze that blows your hair Wanna be the house you’re living in The one for you who’s always there I wanna be the sheets you sleep between And the coat that keeps you warm I wanna be whatever’s next to you Any fashion, shape or form I could spend eternity Naming things I wanna be But let’s skip the metaphors, 'cause All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be, all I wanna be, all I wanna be Is yours Mama told me I was a go-getter Said that I could make it if I tried That's all right, but things would be much better If I had you, honey, by my side Wanna be the joke that makes you laugh Wanna be the book that makes you cry Wanna be the thought that warms your heart The song that sends your spirit high I wanna be your breakfast cereal And your favorite TV show I wanna be inside that head of yours And figure out what makes you go I could spend eternity Naming things I wanna be But let’s skip the metaphors, 'cause All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be, all I wanna be, all I wanna be Is yours You're my one and only love reaction You affect me like nobody can And it would give me so much satisfaction If I had you, baby, for my man All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be, all I wanna be, all I wanna be All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be, all I wanna be, all I wanna be All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be is yours All I wanna be, all I wanna be, all I wanna be Is yours

You're the Only One Who Gets Me You found me at a party in a corner Uncorked with a label they misread A finely tuned piano with the lid kept folded down Gravity, just pulling up ahead We thanked the scattered host and left her party Wandered through the city in the night We saw a busking drummer down on Main Street And a poet read her stanzas by a light We were digging through our pockets for two dollars Loved the poet, but we had to make it fair Over breakfast at the diner, we sat quiet without cringing Just taking in the peaceful morning air It's good to feel free Don't need to be on guard or draw Some circle of protection I can just breathe and be You're the only one who gets me My mother used to call me such a dreamer She wondered why I live inside my head When I went home from school, I found the answer To what happens in the fall when leaves turn red Now you and I have lived through many seasons We've grown up and mom ain't here no more But you take me to the mountains each October Just to spend one night on a crimson forest floor It's good to feel free Don't need to be on guard or draw Some circle of protection I can just breathe and be You're the only one who gets me I'm walking home and hear somebody whistle Old man says: "Lady, where you going? You look fine!" As the traffic drowns him out, he's still cussing in the distance Some people spend a lifetime trying to figure out their opening line It's good to feel free Don't need to be on guard or draw Some circle of protection I can just breathe and be You're the only one who gets me So good to feel free Don't want to be on guard, just make A meaningful connection And you found the key You're the only one who gets me Good to feel free So good to feel free So good to feel free So good to feel free It's good to feel free

Take Back What I Said Before I even knew it It was already done Facing a reality From which I couldn't run Now I sit and wonder why There isn’t any way that I Can take back what I said And get you back again A careless word in anger And thoughtless as I was I would not apologize No reason … just because But when you shut down on me Then I wanted desperately To take back what I said And get you back again I know I was tempting fate Now I hope it's not too late To swallow all my pride Please don't send me on my way 'Cause there's no price that I won't pay To heal the hurt inside Baby, I’ll do anything If it'll make you see I was wrong to make you cry That’s not really me I can change, I know it’s true And the least that I can do Is take back what I said To get you back again Get you back again Get you back again

about

"World is Waiting" is a tapestry of rhythm & blues, gospel, americana, and blues woven together by an inspired and nuanced five-piece band.

Nikki leads the way with unforced vocals, tasty guitar playing, and a way of writing songs that's raw and rootsy with a huge soul influence, a positive message, and plenty of hooks.

On some of the songs, Nikki and her band lay down SoCal Americana grooves that feel like a morning road trip through Topanga Canyon.

She recorded the closing track at the legendary Royal Studios in Memphis.
